G Suite is offered by Google in three different editions: Basic, Business, and Enterprise. While there are more features within Business than offered in Basic — such as Google Team Drive, unlimited storage, and Google Vault — the differences between Business and Enterprise is what will really set your organization apart from your competition.

Enterprise is the premium edition of the G Suite services, that not only includes everything that Basic and Business does, but also offers enhanced security, premium administrative controls, and the customization to allow you to tailor-make your settings specifically for your organization. Let’s dive right into the true benefits of G Suite Enterprise!

Enterprise enhances security

To boost the security of your organization, G Suite Enterprise offers Data Loss Prevention (DLP) protection. Security is enhanced in Drive and Email by adding that extra layer of DLP protection, to prevent sensitive information from being revealed to outside parties. (That sensitive information can include social security numbers, credit card numbers, or any internal company data. Your company’s DLP filters can scan emails for files with sensitive content. If sensitive content is detected, a trigger will alert your company’s Google admins, the user, and even place a block on the unshareable content..  With DLP, both inbound and outbound email is thoroughly scanned, and placed in quarantine, rejected, or modified, depending on your G Suite Enterprise settings. Keep in mind that these settings can be placed for the whole company, or just a specific organizational unit.

Optical Character Recognition (OCR) is another benefit to G Suite Enterprise. OCR is created to scan images for confidential data. It then mitigates loss by extracting any confidential information.  OCR is designed to scan image formats such as GIF, JPG, PNG, and TIFF. Once this setting is turned on by the Google admin, extracted text is subject to the objectionable content rules that are set up within Gmail. This is a valued benefit because it can detect credit card numbers inside images, and moves that entire message to quarantine.

Additional benefits of Enterprise

BigQuery is a highly desired feature that is included within the Enterprise edition. It is designed to execute sophisticated, high performing SQL queries within the Google Cloud Console. Access to the query results are user-controlled, so you can choose who can view or query your data. BigQuery can be accessed by using the Web UI or a command line tool. Even better, there are a variety of third-party tools that can interact with BigQuery to assist in visualizing or loading your data. Finally, Google Meet, the upgraded version of Google Hangouts, is designed for impromptu meetings on the go, virtual training classes, remote interviews, and so much more. With G Suite Enterprise edition, enhancements of Meet include, providing a dial-in phone number for users who don’t have Wi-Fi access to video. You can also host a Hangouts Meet video meeting for up to 30 people at a time, with no time limit.
